ADHD Coaching

My name is Melanie Abbott and I am a registered social worker in the Province of British Columbia. I have a MSW from the University of British Columbia Okanagan and have worked in Mental Health and Addictions since 2013 in BC and Nunavut. I currently call Whitehorse, Yukon home.

I take a strengths-based approach to counselling, believing that everyone has the capacity for healing and wellness within them. I use a variety of therapeutic techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral therapy (DBT). I am a certified EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapist with training in conducting EMDR with addictions as well as with military personnel and first responders and am able to provide this therapy virtually. I have experience working with individuals of the LGBTQ community and am trained to conduct hormone readiness assessments for adults in the Province of BC. I have particular interest in working with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, PTSD, post-partum depression/anxiety, and addictions.

Dallas has been working in the Mental Health and Addictions field since 2003 and brings a wealth of experience in dealing with the complexities involved with individuals and in larger scale programs.

​ Graduating from the University of British Columbia with his Master’s in Clinical Social Work in 2012. Dallas’ area of study (inspired by his own journey with ADHD) focused on the impacts our diet has on mental wellness, specifically ADHD (spoiler alert: it’s very important). Since then, Dallas has been working in a number of inpatient and outpatient government clinics across Canada - the last of which he was living and working in Iqaluit, Nunavut as the manager of the Iqaluit Mental Health and Addictions program for the Government of Nunavut. The beginning of 2022 has brought Dallas and his partner back to the west coast of Canada (#BestCoast) to be closer to family and friends while they embark on a new journey towards parenthood and being business owners. ​

Dallas utilizes a number of theoretical frameworks, focused through a Trauma-Informed lens, including: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy.
